Marketing Campaigns

Emily has over 20 years of experience in digital marketing, TV and content creation, combined with a deep commitment to championing unsung voices in media. She has developed and led multi-platform marketing campaigns across television, digital and social media channels, including behind the scenes content and podcasts for the BBC. Emily has extensive experience managing blogs, YouTube channels, social media, newsletters, content calendars and analytics tools and webpages for a wide range of brands and platforms, including 11 BBC websites. She has created over 500 videos and campaigns for major brands including BBC, Mumsnet, L’Oréal, Disney, TUI and Imperial War Museums, often incorporating shorts, social cuts, polls, quizzes, images and trivia to maximise engagement and reach.

Much of Emily's content, produced for BBC Learning, is still in active use in classrooms over a decade later. Her videos have gone viral with over a million views and won awards, and her campaigns have sold out live events within days.

Imperial War Museums - Digital Strategy & Audience Engagement:

Picture

Emily worked within IWM’s Digital team to deliver editorial content strategy and audience growth for their two YouTube channels. She shaped direction by pitching content ideas, collaborations and talent, and embedding her authorship in scripting, filming, and editing. She ensured underrepresented voices were included and authentic stories told, for example, producing films exploring the work of female war artists and photographers, and when reversioning IWM’s film about Black British soldiers of WWI, Emily secured interviews with Black contributors and added new sections addressing the lack of representation in UK statues.

• Produced 30+ videos optimised for YouTube, Instagram, X and Facebook.

• Helped double channel subscribers from 200k to 400k+ during her year-long contract. (Subs currently at 747k)

• Generated up to 861k views on single videos and over 1,200 viewer comments.

• Negotiated with agents and managed external talent (e.g. Gareth Reid, David Olusoga, Al Murray and Goalhanger)

Emily's campaigns have driven measurable results, from increasing ticket sales at Imperial War Museums’ live air shows to contributing to a channel generating over £6,000 in monthly revenue. At IWM, Emily produced platform-first edits tailored for YT, Insta, X and Facebook, using SEO and metadata best practice, and spearheaded the editorial direction of a new YouTube channel aimed at underrepresented audiences, shaping tone, identity, visual style, fresh trending formats and content pillars. She directed and produced 15 historical documentaries and topical videos on complex, sensitive national issues, including the Russia Ukraine war and strands requiring editorial impartiality and political sensitivity. Emily oversaw content strategy and complex editorial calendars, across multiple YouTube channels, planning 3 months ahead to tie in with national events and internal priorities, devised and implemented SEO and audience growth strategies to increase YouTube and social media engagement, including channel branding, thumbnail optimisation, and metadata best practices. She even invited bloggers to attend shoots and access BTS experiences, boosting video visibility for the newly launched sister channel, at no extra cost.

Emily's groundbreaking short, Sketching in the Trenches, has been long-listed for The British Short Film Awards. This historical documentary challenged Sky Arts 'Portrait Artist of the Year' winner and royal portraitist, Gareth Reid, to immerse himself in front-line sketching and to create a series of drawings during his visit to the Imperial War Museums, including from inside a reproduction trench and with two WW1 re-enactors. With spectacular access to IWM's vast war archives and precious artefacts, plus fresh insights from IWM's curatorial team, this film provides a fascinating look at the role and stories behind front line war artists, who worked in perilous conditions over 100 years ago, to document these important events.

The volume and complexity of artistic expression that emerged during the First World War was unprecedented. War artists often risked their lives to capture their experiences on paper.
But how close to the action did war artists get? How could they sketch in the midst of the chaos and carnage? And could any of us do it? Join Gareth has he attempts to find out...

ARTMaster Live - A sell-out, interactive live show & innovative marketing campaign:

In 2022, Emily created and produced ARTMaster Live — a sold-out live art-comedy game show and Taskmaster spin-off, with audience participation, featuring Alex Horne, for which she secured rights, funding, celebrity involvement and marketing strategy, while managing a cross-disciplinary team. Strictly Come Dancing - Digital Strategy & Official Blogger

For series 8, Emily delivered an innovative and highly successful interactive digital campaign for Strictly Come Dancing, resulting in unprecedented engagement - fan response crashed the site on launch due to a surge in traffic! The team received recognition for Emily's efforts via a feature in the BBC’s Ariel staff newspaper. This groundbreaking, high impact initiative involved creating BBC Online accounts for all celebrity dancers and filming them as they read and responded to fans on the Strictly blog, in my office. This was later edited and uploaded as video content. You can see one example of this in action below and you can watch one of the videos here.

In 2021, after the huge success of her community art project, The Big Picture, Emily was invited to join the committee of Chesham Connect, a local organisation dedicated to regenerating Chesham high street by creating exciting community events and initiatives. With the group, Emily has gathered footfall data for the high street and tracked this year on year. Emily helped to shape, brand and launch the first ever Hats Off Chesham! - A fun festival celebrating Chesham's rich history of hat making. Emily was instrumental in setting up and running craft activities for this festival, as well as filming, editing and managing promo video content, building buzz before, during and after the event. The following year, Emily oversaw the rebranding, creating the brief and mood board, as well as hiring and overseeing the graphic designer (@Shevonburrows.art) in the process of creating the new logo. Emily also designed and created the official festival map and sponsor's package. Footfall at the festival has increased year on year and the event generates hundreds of positive comments from festival goers on the town's social media platforms. The event has also managed to secure multiple sources of sponsorship each year, from local businesses, using the sponsor's pack that Emily created. Emily also designed the logo for Chesham's annual Pancake Race and Dinosaur Day.
